11 years later, December 2011... Local 1619 requests the removal of "Rival Organizations" delegation from the 38 Volunteer Fire Corporations of Prince Georges County.

Letter to IAFF President from Local 1619 requesting the removal of the designation "Rival Organization".

New letter from an IAFF local threatening it's members for volunteering where there is an IAFF local:

Letter dated October 26, 2011 from the President of Local 1813, Greater Chambersburg Area Paid Firefighters Association to members of IAFF who volunteer in areas around the Chambersburg area. The letter is requesting that IAFF members not respond to emergencies in areas that are protected by Local 1813 members while performing as volunteers at volunteer stations that run mutual aid to their jurisdiction.

The reasoning, according to the letter, is from the Borough of Chambersburg informing Local 1813 of its intent to reduce the career staffing or transferring much of the primary responsibility for firefighting to "fire service providers" (whatever that is). According to the letter they believe the Borough will rely on volunteer departments that have mutual aid agreements with the Borough.

The last paragraph of the letter explains the consequences of not adhering to the request.
