EARLY MORNING HOUSE FIRE IN MT. RAINIER

Seven adults and two children were displaced this morning after an over night house fire in Mount Rainer, MD.  Just before 2:00 AM units from the Prince George’s County Fire Department were dispatched to the 4100 block of 34th Street in Mount Rainer for a reported house fire with people trapped.   Firefighters arrived on the scene and encountered heavy fire on both floors of a two-story dwelling. 

According to Battalion Fire Chief Carl Brown of PG Fire Department firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes.  Eight people were able to get out safe stated Brown; one adult male was transported to a local hospital with minor burns to his upper body.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Prince George’s County Fire Department.
